Dentists are warning the public that energy drinks may contribute to decay of tooth enamel. The level of acid found in these drinks is strong enough to dissolve enamel, the hardest substance of the human body.
The acid in the energy drinks is just the beginning. Energy drinks also contain a large amount of sugar that, when combined with the acid, can seriously deteriorate a person’s teeth.
Once enamel is lost, it cannot be replaced. However, it can be rehardened through a process called mineralization. Dentists recommend that people who drink energy drinks rinse their mouths out with water
