A new program, called the Give Back A Smile Program, provides dental care free of charge to domestic violence victims that cannot afford dentists’ fees. Victims of domestic abuse spend more than $4 billion on healthcare, according to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. But now, men and women who have survived domestic abuse can finally get the dental care they need.

Volunteer dentists and dental hygienists offer their care to victims that have suffered from broken or missing teeth. In one woman’s case, she had a broken bite, severely damaged teeth, and needed root canals, bridges, and crowns from endured abuse that would’ve cost her nearly $40,000. But Give A Smile Back Program provided all her care for free and has helped her gain self confidence. More than a thousand victims have had their smiles restored thanks to the program.
