Common Emergency Dentistry Issues

Emergency Dentistry for Broken, Lost Teeth | Austin, TexasSomething as simple as a persistent toothache could signify a serious oral health problem. Dental emergencies can comprise a variety of issues, such as:

  • Broken tooth: Sometimes teeth break as a result of trauma and other times it can seem as though they break for no reason at all. Over time, teeth can become weakened and susceptible to damage. Even if you aren’t experiencing a great deal of pain due to a broken tooth, it’ still important to contact our office right away. Your broken tooth may require a dental crown or other restoration to prevent further damage.
  • Broken or lost dental crown: It may be possible to save a dental crown that falls out in a single piece. Dr. Loveless can evaluate the loose or broken crown and determine the best strategy moving forward, whether it be to repair or replace your crown.
  • Object stuck in teeth: It’s very common to get an object lodged between your teeth from time to time. This problem can usually be addressed at home with some floss and a toothbrush. You should avoid trying to dislodge particles with a sharp object. If you can’t remove an object with gentle flossing, Dr. Loveless can safely help you and restore comfort.
  • Soft tissue damage: Injuries to the gums, lips, cheeks and tongue can cause pain, swelling and bleeding. While minor soft tissue damage often heals on its own, persistent bleeding or pain may require professional treatment.

If you aren’t sure if we can help with your dental emergency, just give us a call. Dr. Loveless has years of experience and training in a variety of dental services and can help you get back on track or guide you to the care you need.
